Music NB will be having it's Annual General Assembly on Sunday May 30th 2010 at 1pm in the MNB Office in Moncton. We will also be programming events and round table meetings regarding our the NB music industry during the course of the weekend. A complete schedule will be available shortly
Musique NB tiendra son Assemblée générale annuelle le 30 mai 2010 dans les bureaux de MNB à Moncton. Nous allons aussi programmer des événements et des tables rondes pour discuter des enjeux de notre industrie musicale provinciale au courant de la fin de semaine. L'horaire complet sera disponible sous peu.
 


2. Music NB Regional Discussions / Discussions régionales de Musique NB

Leading up to our May 30th Annual General Meeting, Music New Brunswick (MNB) is organizing information sessions and discussions revolving around the NB music Industry and its development for the future. This is the first step of our preparation in developing a three year strategic plan that will serve the association as well as the entire music industry of the province. We need to have a common vision. As the music industry association for NB, we need to know what your challenges are. We want to be able to support and foster while developing new ideas and strategies to support our industry together!
 
En préparation de leur Assemblée générale annuelle, Musique Nouveau Brunswick organise des sessions d'information et de discussion pour mieux comprendre les enjeux des intervenants de l'industrie musicale de la province du Nouveau-Brunswick. Ces rencontres nous aiderons à la préparation d'un plan stratégique pour les trois prochaines années. Nous voulons connaître les défies de chaque région et de mieux connaître les gens qui travailent dans le secteur. Ensemble, nous pouvons établir une stratégie pour développer notre industrie!

 

3. Songwriters Workshop May 29th 2010

The Songwriters Association of Canada in partnership with Music/Musique NB are proud to present the S.A.C. Songwriting Workshop during the weekend of Music New Brunswick's Annual General Meeting.

Songwriting Workshop With John Capek
 
A workshop for both up and coming and experienced song writers, this will be a 3 hour session dealing with writing techniques and hands on learning. The participants will be invited to present one of their songs, live or recorded, for critique and commentary. There are places for 15 participants and all who are interested must register via the Music NB website.
WHEN: MAY 29th 2010
WHERE: Trimedia Atlantic in the main studio.
TIME: 1 pm to 4:30 pm
COST: 25$, 15$ for Music NB members
 
 

4. Fête de la musique 2010 - 21 Juin
 
As an official partner in the organisation of the international "Fête de la Musique" (Intl. Music day) in Moncton, MNB is accepting applications until May 15th.

Musique NB est fier de se joindre aux organisateurs de la Fête de la Musique 2010. Les artistes désirant offrir des performances sont invités à le faire par le biais du lien ci-dessous et ce, avant le samedi 15 mai 2010.

 


5. Lancement de l'album des finalistes d'Accros de la chanson 2010

LANCEMENT DE L’ALBUM DES FINALISTES D’ACCROS DE LA CHANSON 2010

 
MONCTON, le vendredi 30 avril 2010 - La Fédération des jeunes francophones du Nouveau- Brunswick (FJFNB) vous invite au lancement de l'album des finalistes d'Accros de la chanson 2010 dans le cadre de la diffusion en direct de l'émission En Rafale de la Première Chaîne de Radio-Canada Acadie.

DATE : Le vendredi 14 mai 2010
HEURE : 16h à 18 h
LIEU : Foyer du Théâtre Capitol, Moncton (811 rue Main)
 
En première heure de l'émission, les finalistes d'Accros de la chanson seront présentés et les pièces enregistrées aux studios de Radio-Canada Acadie seront diffusées pour la première fois à la radio. Ce sera une découverte pour le public. Le porte-parole de cette édition, Kevin McIntyre et le réalisateur de l'album, George Belliveau, discuteront de leur contribution au projet. Également, un membre du groupe KeroZen, gagnant de la catégorie groupe de l'édition 2009 d'Accros de la chanson, témoignera de l'influence du projet sur leur carrière de jeunes musiciens. Animée par Samuel Chiasson, l’émission sera diffusée aux quatre coins des provinces de l’Atlantique.
Un léger goûter sera servi. Portes ouvertes à 15h30, l'entrée est libre.

The only way to submit an application to FACTOR is with a hard copy application. The PDF application forms can be found at: http://www.factor.ca/Programs.aspx
FACTOR will be in contact with anyone who has successfully submitted an online application. These submitted online applications will be processed by FACTOR.

8. Rik Resse hits #1
 
Canadian Country Rockers, Rik Reese & Neon Highway and their current single 'Headin Down to Memphis', takes the number #1 spot this week on CJSE Country 89.5FM. The single entered the station's Top 20 at #18 and has climbed steadily knocking out Nashville super-group, Lady Antebellum who held the position for 4 weeks. The single is from the critically acclaimed album entitled, Mama Raised a Good Boy which was nominated for 2010 Country Album of the Year by the East Coast Music Association and 2009 List of Top Canadian Country Albums of the Decade by Canadian Country Music News. 9. New Song Release"Bluegrass Grows" by Don Coleman
Don Coleman was inspired and he wrote 22 bluegrass songs in 10 days.
He also published a book of the 22 songs titled "Stash O' Grass" Coleman is thrilled to release one of the songs from the "Stash O' Grass" collection.

The song "Bluegrass Grows" celebrates the magic of spring and the joy it brings to all creatures, the beginning of summer and the importance of friendship.
The song features "NB Country Music Hall Of Fame" inductee "Eddy Poirier" who performs all of the instrumentation.

11.Winnipeg Folk Festival - Young Performers Program

New This Year - We are offering a bursary for out of province applicants!

Now in its 11th year, the Winnipeg Folk Festival is pleased to once again present the Young Performers Program. Open to emerging musicians ages 14-24. This training and performance program offers a day of workshops and mentoring with professional musicians hired to perform at this year’s festival. Participants also have the a opportunity to perform on stage to the Festival audience.

We hope those who take part will come away inspired to pursue a future in music. It’s also a chance to interact and exchange ideas with young musicians with the same musical interests.
