6. Another Forward Music Group Update
The Olympic Symphonium
West Coast tour w/ Catherine MacLellan + Chapter 1 (special revised edition)
- new art, remastered, bonus track, more drums and more banjo -

Since early 2009 we've been sold out of our debut album and people have been consistently asking where they can get a copy. At some point, we don't remember when, we recorded some extra banjo, drums and keyboards on these songs and added a bonus track from the 2006 sessions. We remastered the album with J.Lapointe at Archive Mastering and asked the very wonderful Adam MacDonald to make new artwork for the package.
So voila! May 18th will mark the re-release of an album someone once called:
"...a spot on dose of indie folk that laughs in the face of anxiety and stress."
If you own one of the 500 limited-edition hand-screened original copies, send a photo of it to info@theolympicsymphonium.com and we'll send you back a free digital copy of the new edition.
We're also very excited to be heading West at the end of this month for some shows with the wonderful Catherine MacLellan. Most of these shows are in small, intimate spaces so buy tickets early to ensure you are reserved a seat:

14. Halifax Pop Explosion Early Bird Deadline Fast Approaching - April 16, 2010 - For Release
The Halifax Pop Explosion (HPX) is a music, culture and media festival in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada from October 19-24, 2010 and is accepting submissions for interested artists. The deadline for early bird submissions is April 16th 2010.
HPX is a five day festival taking place in bars, small theatres and some larger multi-use venues (arenas, banquet halls) and is composed of 30-50 concerts staged in venues as small as 90 seats and as large as 3500 capacity.
We do the festival for the love of the music and to bring bands to town that would normally never make the trip out here.
We are now accepting applications for showcasing bands via mail and Sonicbids (preferred method), and we are always interested in proposals for showcases from independent record labels.
For detailed info on the festival, past performers, F.A.Q. and everything else please visit our website:
http://halifaxpopexplosion.com/about-us/play/
Quotable Quotes:
“Finding out you were selected to play HPX is like wining a prize. It is a gift to the band every time we get to play.” - Brian Borcherdt, Holy Fuck
“We had a great experience playing Halifax Pop Explosion in 2008. I think it’s a great chance for many bands to play an amazing first show in an interesting city like Halifax. It’s the kind of festival that’s big enough for bands to have crowded shows, but small enough for you to feel that the people organizing it are doing it only out of love of music and live shows.” -Yonatan Gat, Monotonix
“There is no other festival in Canada with the profile of the Pop Explosion. I know I can rely on HPX to treat my artists well. The artists always want to go back and play again.” – Steven Himmelfarb, Agent, The Billions Corporation
