Music NB will be having it's Annual General Assembly on Sunday May 30th 2010 at 1pm in the MNB Office in Moncton. We will also be programming events and round table meetings regarding our the NB music industry during the course of the weekend. to New Brunswick and Nova Scotia in April and May 2010
April 27, 2010, Halifax NS – Country recording artist Ryan Cook is performing a Hank Williams Tribute show beginning April 29 at the Vintage Bistro in Hampton, NB. He continues through to Nova Scotia for May 1 at the Union Street Cafe in Berwick, May 7 at Th'YARC in Yarmouth, May 12 at The Seahorse Tavern in Halifax, May 13 at Glasgow Square Theatre in New Glasgow, May 15 at the Osprey Arts Centre in Shelburne and May 16 at Acadia Hall in Sackville.
In the Summer of 2009, Cook performed as Hank Williams for three sold-out weeks of the Maynard Collins play “The Show He Never Gave” at the Live Bait Theatre in Sackville, NB. The demand from audiences brought him back to theatre in April 2010 for a fourth week of packed performances. As the curtain closed one last time, Cook turned his attention toward producing a tribute show and is looking forward to showcasing Hank Williams songs for for audiences in Hampton, NB and across Nova Scotia.
“I spent a lot of time studying Hank Williams for 'The Show He Never Gave',” says Cook, “and I've developed his character to a point where I can take the show on the road as a tribute to Hank and share his music with old and new fans. The show is also another perspective on the idea of the the show he never gave, because the tribute is much like what his show would actually have been like in 1953, complete with costumes, yodelling and a southern drawl.”

Ryan Cook Biography
Ryan Cook is an award-winning Canadian songwriter from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and performs a blend of folk, roots, jazz and country/western genres. Ryan has played more than 260 shows since the release of his LP "Hot Times" in the Spring of 2008. The album won a Music Nova Scotia Award for Country/Bluegrass Recording of the Year and was named the 8th Best Canadian Country album of 2008 by Country Music News.
Ryan has performed on stages across Canada, at the Ryman Auditorium and the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree in Nashville, Tennessee. He is currently recording his next LP in Nashville to be released in Canada in the Fall of 2010.

MONCTON’S OPEN MIC NIGHT FOR SONGWRITERS COMING UP - MAY 4 AND JUNE 1
MONCTON, NB
The next monthly editions of Songwriters Association of Canada Moncton Songstage, Moncton’s open mic night for original music by singer-songwriters, will take place on Tuesday, May 4 and June 1, 9:30 – 11:30 PM at St. James’ Gate.
The SongStage event will break for the summer and will also see a change in format as of late August.
Spaces are available on May 4 and June 1. Registration will take place on-site, starting at 9:00 PM, on a first-come, first-served basis. Performers showcase 3 – 5 songs in an environment that is friendly to original music.

St. James’ Gate is located at 14 Church St. Come on out and enjoy great food and drink while being entertained by creators of original music. There is no cover charge.

MONCTON, N-B – Les prochaines éditions de Songwriters Association of Canada Moncton Songstage auront lieu les mardi, 4 mai et 1 juin, de 21 h 30 à 23 h 30 au St. James’ Gate de Moncton.
L’événement sera suspendu pendant la saison estivale, avec changement de format dès la fin août.
Plusieurs places sont encore disponibles pour le 4 mai et le 1 juin. L’inscription aura lieu la soirée-même, premier arrivé/premier servi. Cet événement est destiné aux artistes cherchant un endroit à faire entendre leurs pièces originales. Chaque artiste jouera 5 chansons.

12. Reminder - Mentorship Program at the Atlantic Film Festival
This is a reminder that The Atlantic Film Festival Association, in partnership with the Guild of Canadian Film Composers and Symphony Nova Scotia, is still accepting applications for the Second Annual Composer-Director Mentorship Program.
This is a great opportunity for four composers and four film directors to be paired up and given the opportunity to work together on the composition of an original score for an original three-minute film cue with the participation of Symphony Nova Scotia. This Program will be presented during the 30th Atlantic Film Festival in Halifax, NS in September. Both the Composer and the Director will benefit from hands on mentorship from established film composers, orchestrators, and recording engineers throughout the entire collaboration. This is a great opportunity for film directors to see their work scored with a live symphony!

Vous avez jusqu'au vendredi 11 juin prochain pour compléter le formulaire de demande de vitrines et de Rencontre Clin d'oeil. N'oubliez pas que vous devez nous faire parvenir un dossier complet de l'artiste (dossier de presse un maximum de 15 pages, cd et/ou dvd et fiche technique) ainsi que les frais d'analyse de dossier de 30$ + les taxes par dossier. Les dossiers incomplets ne seront pas analysés. Pour avoir accès au volet protégé, vous devez avoir en votre possession votre nom d'utilisateur ainsi que votre mot de passe (voir la marche à suivre).

Émergence: profils de jeunes artistes recherchés
 MONCTON, le 28 avril 2010 – La Fédération des jeunes francophones du Nouveau-Brunswick (FJFNB) invite les jeunes artistes francophones qui débordent de talents à soumettre, dès aujourd'hui, leurs profils d'artistes afin de procéder à la création d'un répertoire de jeunes artistes du Nouveau-Brunswick nommé Émergence.
Le président de la FJFNB, Alexis Couture applaudi la création de ce répertoire qui jouera un grand rôle dans le milieu artistique francophone du Nouveau-Brunswick. « Avec Émergences, les jeunes artistes auront dorénavant un outil de réseautage important leur permettant de découvrir d’autres jeunes artistes de leur milieu, mais surtout leur permettant de se faire voir par les promoteurs, les organisateurs d'événements et le grand public », souligne M. Couture.
Les jeunes artistes francophones, âgés entre 14 à 25 ans, qui désirent se faire connaître dans le domaine artistique sont encouragés à soumettre leur profil sur le Web en visitant emergence.kboom.ca. Un formulaire de soumission devra être envoyé et accompagné de documents d'informations.
D'ailleurs, ils devront envoyer une preuve qu'ils détiennent une formation spécialisée ou encore une lettre d'un professionnel, tel qu'un enseignant ou un artiste professionnel de la région, à titre de preuve de reconnaissance.
Émergence, une initiative de la FJFNB en collaboration avec Capacadie.com, sera disponible en ligne sur le portail jeunesse kboom.ca à l'automne 2010 et permettra aux lecteurs de découvrir les jeunes artistes de chez nous des disciplines artistiques, telles l'art visuel, la danse, la musique, l'art dramatique, l'art littéraire et l'art médiatique.
L'idée d'un répertoire de jeunes artistes a « émergée » suite aux nombreux appels de gens du domaine artistique, des communautés et du système scolaire demandant à la FJFNB de fournir
des noms de jeunes artistes pour des événements, activités, formations ou spectacles.

16. Programme national des artistes - Jeux d'hivers du Canada 2010
 Prière de trouver ci-joint l'information sur le Programme national des artistes (PNA) des Jeux d’hiver du Canada 2011. Les Jeux du Canada seront présentés à Halifax en Nouvelle-Écosse, du 11 à 27 février 2011.
L’affiche est un appel de soumission aux jeunes artistes du Nouveau-Brunswick âgés de 16 à 22 ans les invitant à participer au programme national des artistes. La date limite de soumission est le 17 septembre 2010. En raison des vacances d'été, nous encourageons les candidat.e.s intéressé.e.s à soumettre leur demande au courant de l’été (pendant les mois de mai et juin).
