 Leading up to our May 30th Annual General Meeting, Music New Brunswick (MNB) is organizing information sessions and discussions revolving around the NB music Industry and its development for the future. This is the first step of our preparation in developing a three year strategic plan that will serve the association as well as the entire music industry of the province. We need to have a common vision. As the music industry association for NB, we need to know what your challenges are. We want to be able to support and foster while developing new ideas and strategies to support our industry together!

En préparation de leur Assemblée générale annuelle, Musique Nouveau Brunswick organise des sessions d'information et de discussion pour mieux comprendre les enjeux des intervenants de l'industrie musicale de la province du Nouveau-Brunswick. Ces rencontres nous aiderons à la préparation d'un plan stratégique pour les trois prochaines années. Nous voulons connaître les défies de chaque région et de mieux connaître les gens qui travailent dans le secteur. Ensemble, nous pouvons établir une stratégie pour développer notre industrie!

The Songwriters Association of Canada in partnership with Music/Musique NB are proud to present the S.A.C. Songwriting Workshop during the weekend of Music New Brunswick's Annual General Meeting.
Songwriting Workshop With John Capek
A workshop for both up and coming and experienced song writers, this will be a 3 hour session dealing with writing techniques and hands on learning. The participants will be invited to present one of their songs, live or recorded, for critique and commentary. There are places for 15 participants and all who are interested must register via the Music NB website.

Reminder to all musicians and artists to apply for the Fête de la musique in Moncton
 (Moncton, May 6, 2010) – To all the musicians out there, the deadline to apply in order to participate in the Fête de la musique in Moncton (Moncton's Music Celebration) is in a little more than a week. Artists wishing to perform are invited to do so through the website: www.musicnb.org and before Saturday May 15, 2010.On June 21st, South East New Brunswick will celebrate la Fête de la musique (Music Celebration Day)! This is an open invitation to local musicians to register and take part in the celebration.
Musicians of all genres are invited to take part voluntarily in the event whose success increases each year. This year, the majority of musical performances will take place at the Tidal Bore Park, on the edge of the Petitcodiac River and at City Hall.
An international celebration!
La Fête de la musique is a genuinely popular, bilingual and free event. It mixes all genres and is open to all audiences with the aim to popularize musical practices and to familiarize youths and adults from all walks of life to all musical expressions.

(Moncton, 6 mai 2010) – Avis aux musiciens amateurs et professionnels, il vous reste près d'une semaine afin de vous inscrire à la prochaine Fête de la musique à Moncton, qui aura lieu le lundi 21 juin 2010. Les artistes désirant offrir des performances sont invités à le faire par le biais du site :www.musiquenb.org et ce, avant le samedi 15 mai 2010.
Les musiciens sont invités à se produire bénévolement lors de cette journée dont le succès ne fait qu’augmenter à chaque année. Cette année, les célébrations auront lieu sur le bord de la rivière Petitcodiac, au Parc Le Mascaret et à l’hôtel de ville de Moncton.

LANCEMENT DE L’ALBUM DES FINALISTES D’ACCROS DE LA CHANSON 2010
 MONCTON, le vendredi 30 avril 2010 - La Fédération des jeunes francophones du Nouveau- Brunswick (FJFNB) vous invite au lancement de l'album des finalistes d'Accros de la chanson 2010 dans le cadre de la diffusion en direct de l'émission En Rafale de la Première Chaîne de Radio-Canada Acadie.
DATE : Le vendredi 14 mai 2010
HEURE : 16h à 18 h
LIEU : Foyer du Théâtre Capitol, Moncton (811 rue Main)
En première heure de l'émission, les finalistes d'Accros de la chanson seront présentés et les pièces enregistrées aux studios de Radio-Canada Acadie seront diffusées pour la première fois à la radio. Ce sera une découverte pour le public. Le porte-parole de cette édition, Kevin McIntyre et le réalisateur de l'album, George Belliveau, discuteront de leur contribution au projet. Également, un membre du groupe KeroZen, gagnant de la catégorie groupe de l'édition 2009 d'Accros de la chanson, témoignera de l'influence du projet sur leur carrière de jeunes musiciens. Animée par Samuel Chiasson, l’émission sera diffusée aux quatre coins des provinces de l’Atlantique.
Un léger goûter sera servi. Portes ouvertes à 15h30, l'entrée est libre.

Vous avez jusqu'au vendredi 11 juin prochain pour compléter le formulaire de demande de vitrines et de Rencontre Clin d'oeil. N'oubliez pas que vous devez nous faire parvenir un dossier complet de l'artiste (dossier de presse un maximum de 15 pages, cd et/ou dvd et fiche technique) ainsi que les frais d'analyse de dossier de 30$ + les taxes par dossier. Now in its 11th year, the Winnipeg Folk Festival is pleased to once again present the Young Performers Program. Open to emerging musicians ages 14-24. This training and performance program offers a day of workshops and mentoring with professional musicians hired to perform at this year’s festival. Participants also have the a opportunity to perform on stage to the Festival audience.
We hope those who take part will come away inspired to pursue a future in music. It’s also a chance to interact and exchange ideas with young musicians with the same musical interests.

Impact of New EI Special Benefits on Artists and Cultural Workers
The Report, prepared by Garry Neil, examines the new program to determine its relevance for the cultural community and the likelihood that freelance artists and other cultural workers will enroll.
The author explains what the employment insurance special benefits are, who is eligible and how the premiums work.
The Report goes on to examine the relationship between the EI special benefits and existing insurance programs available to some artists and cultural workers through their unions and associations, as well as the relevance of the new program to individual artists and cultural workers. It provides real life examples to illustrate when, how and if enrolling in the new program makes sense for a self-employed artist or cultural worker.
The Cultural Human Resources Council (CHRC) is committed to strengthening the cultural labour force, and strives to be at the centre of vision and forward thinking in the area of cultural human resources development. Le rapport, préparé par Garry Neil, se penche sur ce nouveau programme afin d'en déterminer la pertinence pour le milieu culturel et les probabilités que les artistes indépendants et d'autres travailleuses et travailleurs culturels s'y inscrivent.
L'auteur explique ce que sont les prestations spéciales de l'assurance-emploi, qui est admissible et comment les cotisations fonctionnent.
Le rapport examine ensuite la relation entre les prestations spéciales de l'assurance-emploi et les programmes d'assurance qui existent déjà pour certains artistes et travailleuses et travailleurs culturels par le biais de leur union ou de leur association, ainsi que la pertinence du nouveau programme pour les artistes et les travailleuses et travailleurs culturels. Il fournit des exemples concrets pour illustrer quand, comment et si s'inscrire au nouveau programme est la bonne décision pour un artiste autonome ou une travailleuse ou un travailleur culturel.
Le Conseil des ressources humaines du secteur culturel (CRHSC) s'est engagé à renforcer les moyens dont dispose l'ensemble des employeurs et des travailleurs du secteur culturel et cherche à se placer à l'avant-garde en matière de vision et de pensée dans le domaine du développement des ressources humaines dans le secteur culturel. Le CRHSC réunit des représentants des disciplines artistiques et des industries du secteur culturel qui se penchent sur les besoins de formation et de développement de carrière des employeurs et des travailleurs culturels, y compris les artistes, le personnel technique et les gestionnaires.
