Jazz singer Emilie-Claire Barlow kicks off the Holiday season at the Capitol

The Capitol Theatre is proud to present jazz singer Emilie-Claire Barlow on Friday, December 1st at 8 p.m. Tickets are on sale at the Capitol Theatre Box Office at $36 for members and $39 for the general public. This performance is presented as part of the 2017-2018 Capitol Theatre season presented by Louisbourg Investments. Nova Scotia singer Ian Janes will be the opening act.

Two-time Juno Award winning vocalist Emilie-Claire Barlow celebrates her newest recording Winter Lights, her second seasonal recording, following up the highly successful Winter Wonderland (2006). This recording shows Emilie-Claire’s evolution as an arranger and now, songwriter.

This bilingual show features original takes on an eclectic mix of Christmas and wintry tunes. Classics, (River, I’ll Be Home for Christmas, Noël Blanc) Quebec favourites, (As-Tu Vu le Père Noël, Marie Noël) and surprises such as a French version of the Wilson Sisters pop tune Hey Santa, and Tricot Machine’s Combien de Noël.

An engaging performer and imaginative arranger, Emilie-Claire and her incredible band will bring fresh interpretations of your holiday favourites, and classic from her popular repertoire (The Beat Goes On, Clear Day, Seule ce Soir) and of course, Winter Wonderland.

Opening act: Ian Janes

A confident and soulful record, Ian’s new album Yes Man creatively mixes his deepest influences and experiences. It is a combination of singularly written songs, as well as collaborations with other great writers from across North America including Andy Stochansky (Goo Goo Dolls, Ani DiFranco, Shannon Noll), Jamie Hartman (Joss Stone, James Bay, Christina Aguilera), Lee Ann and Daryl Burgess (Irma Thomas, Colin James, Patty Loveless) and iconic Canadian songwriter, Joel Plaskett.
