MNB COUNTRY SONGWRITING CHALLENGE NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS!
The Canadian Songwriting Challenge presented by Music•Musique NB
Country Artists Co-writing Retreat
Music•Musique NB is launching applications for a songwriting retreat focused on Country artists, as part of the Canadian Songwriter Challenge! Singer-songwriters from across the province will collaborate on songs, record demos as well as participate in panel discussions and professional development opportunities. Music•Musique NB’s Canadian Songwriting Challenge will take place from July 15-18th in Miramichi NB.
As a mentor throughout the program, Miramichi’s Jason Barry will be giving valuable tips and guidance throughout the writing sessions & studio time. Barry is an award winning producer, writer, post audio engineer and musician who worked with many of the world's most celebrated artists ranging from Dean Brody and Taylor Swift to Lyle Lovett and Steve Earle.
- New Brunswick resident for at least a year
- Country songwriters (includes but not limited to: country folk, country pop, canadiana, etc.)
- Available from Wednesday, July 14th to Sunday, July 18th
- Able to travel to Miramichi, New Brunswick
- Note: Travel expenses are covered by MNB
- Interest in co-writing
- Ideally would be able to record audio on a phone for co-writing sessions
- Able to work fast
Music·Musique NB encourages submissions from artists of diverse communities, including Indigenous artists, artists of colour, artists with disabilities, artists from the LGBTQ+ community, and artists who identify with other intersectional and underserved groups.
Music·Musique NB will follow health & safety protocols and guidelines as indicated in the COVID-19 Recovery Plan of the Province of New Brunswick. Although we plan to present the program in person, we may shift it to an online event.
