New Brunswick’s FM Berlin Sign Publishing Deal
Sound of Pop is pleased to announce they have signed a publishing deal with Moncton based alternative rock band FM Berlin. The deal includes the band’s current full-length album “At Least You’re Having Fun”.
Founded in 2001, Sound of Pop (SOP) is an award-winning Music Publishing and Master/Sync representation company with a current catalogue of over 800 songs by artists/songwriters including Chris Kirby, Coco Love Alcorn, Hello Delaware, Fairgale, Brianna Gosse, Happy Beats, Andrew Waite & the Firm and more. SOP also represents international acts Kidneythieves (US), Voltaire Twins (Australia) and Bettie Serveert (Netherlands).
Glenn McMullen from Sound of Pop said: “I first heard about FM Berlin when an earlier unreleased version of their debut single landed on my desk sometime last winter and then the finished record ended up in my hands in late 2017. The songwriting and sound of the record really had me hooked – It’s a super strong effort that brings in some diverse influences from several musical eras and has some great hooks and catchy melodies with a really cool and unique lead vox. I’m really looking forward to adding an artist from NB to the publishing roster and working on sync opportunities for these songs in film, television and web as well as continuing to develop new collaborative songwriting opportunities.
FM Berlin is a 4-piece Alternative Rock band from Moncton, NB that sounds like The Police and The Strokes made a baby....in space. The band’s 2017 release “At Least You’re Having Fun” was produced by Jason Dufour (Tokyo Police Club, July Talk, Lights) and Josh Bowman (Matthew Good, The Balconies). The band have just returned from a 9-city Canadian tour spanning Ontario to Nova Scotia in support of their latest single “At Least You’re Having Fun” - a gritty spin on a fifties pop song. The band recently showcased in Toronto for Indie Week and were the recipients of the coveted Bell Media Prize for Canada’s Music Incubator Program, which they attended in 2017. Other highlights include Music New Brunswick’s award for “Emerging Artist of the Year” and an East Coast Music Award showcase. Corey Hachey from FM Berlin had this to say: "We were so excited when we learned that SOP wanted to work with us! Having our music played on TV and film is something that we’ve wanted from the beginning, and now, with the help of all the hard-working people over at Sound Of Pop, we get the chance to do just that.”
