The Capitol Theatre, in partnership with the New Brunswick Youth Orchestra’s Tutta Musica, is proud to announce that it will once again jointly stage a professional musical theatre production next winter. It was announced last weekend that the world-famous stage musical Mary Poppins will run from February 24 to March 4, 2018. Tickets will go on sale later this Fall.

“Following the successes of The Sound of Music and Oliver!,  we are eager to join forces once again with our friends at NBYO. We know that the citizens of Greater Moncton and beyond will once again be impressed with the quality of our production. Our audience should expect incredibly talented actors and musicians, gorgeous sets and costumes. We will once again be using our video wall equipment and intend to use mind-blowing special effects for this show”, said Capitol Theatre Managing Director Kim Rayworth.

The collaboration of these two groups will once again see the production of musical theatre at its best: a fully professional production with actors, live orchestra, dancers, and technicians of both national and local acclaim. For over twenty years the Capitol Theatre has been the region’s leader in the presentation and development of arts and culture, and in arts education. Tutta Musica, composed of the professional musicians of NBYO’s Sistema NB, has contributed deeply to the artistic profile of our region, both through performance and the instruction and mentoring of youth in our province.

Support from the corporate community

The producers are also very proud to announce a 3-year commitment from Royale as Title Sponsor. “Royale has been supportive of this endeavour ever since the very beginning and we are honoured that they saw fit to invest in this professional production, which will once again create professional employment opportunities as well as economic spinoffs through consumer spending”, said New Brunswick Youth Orchestra CEO Ken MacLeod.

This production of Mary Poppins will be directed by Marshall Button, with musical direction by Antonio Delgado. They are eager to begin the casting process and will once again canvas the region and beyond to find the best professional and emerging talents in musical theatre. Experienced singers, dancers and actors are invited to submit a photo and resume to melannie.eldridge@capitol.nb.ca.
