Brian Baker and the Memphis Knights, the infectiously danceable rockabilly band, perform high-energy rock 'n' roll combined with honky tonk attitude and swampy blues flavours and has quickly taken Atlantic Canada by storm! The band is known for adding a modern fiery punch to rockabilly standards by Carl Perkins, Johnny Burnette, The Stray Cats and Gene Vincent. March 2015 Brian Baker and the Memphis nights released their debut album "RollerSkate Baby" recorded in Nashville, TN, at Fry Pharmacy Recording. 10 Original Rockabilly songs featuring musicians such as Mark Winchester, Joe Fick and David Graham.
Paul MacPhail, Rockabilly Hall of Fame, Nashville, Tenn: "August 1-2, the third Rockabilly Shakedown concert took place in Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada. Got to mention…of the dozen or so bands that played the 3rd annual Rockabilly Shakedown Festival this year, the Memphis Knights from Halifax, Nova Scotia, were definitely the best. With only drums, stand-up slap bass, and lead guitarist who also did the vocals, they did justice to old time rockabilly. Bursting into a long ten-minute "Johnny B. Goode", all the Chuck Berry moves were incorporated-plus. On his back, playing guitar behind head, duckwalk, laying of his back, standing on his head, etc. I've heard about 100 versions of this song, but this was the ultimate. Their 1-hour performance featured such great songs as Vincent's "Be-Bop A-Lula", Eddie Cochran's "Jeanne, Jeanne, Jeanne", the instrumental "Sleepwalk" (featuring a sax solo), and an excellent mellow "Kaw-Liga". If you like rockabilly… check their tour schedule. A must see!"
