District Avenue is a hard rock group, from the Tobique First Nations in New Brunswick. The band features former members of the multi nominated and chart topping Aboriginal rock band ‘Kickin’ Krotch’.
In the fall of 2015, Mike, Sean and Kipp decided that they wanted to take their music and sound to the next level and thus District Avenue was born. It was in 2015 while at the Indigenous Music Awards, they met producer Vic Branco owner of Iguana Studios and an instant connection was formed.
The new lineup set out to write songs that that would feature both their passion for life and music.
In the dead of winter (2016) they drove to Toronto to record their debut.
The result was a blend of crunchy rhythmic progressions with emotional melodies and lyrics that deliver a positive and inspirational message.
District Avenue is a multilayered entity, the depths of their artistry stem from their values in Indigenous heritage and the necessity to overcome life’s addictions. Each member of the band holds a story, a vision and an eclectic taste in music that together transfuses a multitude of sounds and experiences.
noteworthy accomplishments.. As former members of ‘Kickin’ Krotch’, they toured across Canada and Northwest USA in 2014 with 20 shows. They were nominated for the 2014 East Coast Music awards for “Aboriginal Recording of the Year”, and had a number one hit on the National Aboriginal Music Countdown. And also was nominated for the 2014 Indigenous Music Awards "Best Rock Album". And 2015 Indigenous Music Awards "Best New Artist".
