Hardcore music was created out of the need for community. Based on values such as inclusion, self-expression and critical thinking. Hardcore music is about honest and truthful energy. In wanting to create that same sense of belonging here in the Maritimes, Johnny Deathwish was born.
A long time passion project, Johnny Deathwish is an all-Acadian, five-piece hardcore band from Moncton, NB. Their music is filled with heavy riffs, melodic core progressions and energetic grooves that draws influence from bands like Terror and Comeback Kid. Fuelled by the need to rage harder and play louder, Johnny Deathwish’s energetic performance is truly one of a kind and will have everyone join in on the mosh.
They’ve recently released their second EP, SOMETHING REAL recorded by Aurum Waves Studio in November 2022 following their first EP, Fire | Light (recorded by Kyle MacDonald of Zaum), released in 2019. Since then, the band has not only been able to share the stage with some of the Maritime's heaviest hitters like Diner Drugs (NB) and Knull (PEI), but they have recently had the pleasure to lend local support for Canadian Hardcore bands Cancer Bats and Comeback Kid (2022).
Now working on releasing a special project (Spring 2023), you can catch Johnny Deathwish play in a city near you or at this summer’s Punk Festival Punkocalypse 2023 in Fredericton, alongside headliners D.O.A. and Teenage Bottlerocket.
