Juanita Bourque

Born and raised in a small French-Acadian village called Rogersville, Juanita Bourque is a singer/songwriter based in Fredericton, NB and began her musical career in 2008 singing lead in a soft jazz/easy listening band called SpeakEasy. It wasn't until Juanita blended voices with cousin and fellow singer, Sylvia Reentovich in 2011 that she gained recognition in the local music scene as Sissy & The Hobos (2014 MNB’s nominee for "Merging Artist of the Year" and "Folk Recording of the Year") where their debut self-titled album will find songs written and co-written by Juanita addressing relatable themes of love, loss and sacrifice while paying tribute to the musical influences in a variety of genres from folk, country to bluegrass and roots. Consequently, Juanita continues to spread her lyrics as a solo performer and has also engaged in the opportunities to collaborate with other local musicians to further develop her songwriting and musical skills.
