The Drummer Dan

Funk, Pop, Rock
Genre(s):

The Drummer Dan (Hamilton) has been performing in bands since his teens. After purchasing his first "professional" set of drums in 1981 he took lessons in his hometown of St. John's, NL.
After taking lessons in drum theory for a few years, he started playing/performing in high school bands.
After High School he attended Memorial University (MUN) and met fellow musicians Ken Tizzard (The Watchmen, Thornley) and Mike Monroe. He joined their band and performed at venues in St. John's and other towns around Newfoundland. After a year he went on to join the rock band Vengeance who were a successful touring band for many years in NL.
Two years later, Dan moved to Toronto, Ontario to work in electronics. Soon after, He transferred to London(ON) and performed at various Open Mics and "sat in" with many performing bands. In fact Dan has always felt comfortable "sitting in" with performing bands.....whenever and wherever he is! He has done this in his many trips to the US, to numerous islands in the Caribbean and of course throughout Canada. After living in Ontario for a few years Dan moved to Nova Scotia where he lived for almost 3 decades. He performed with many cover bands(Hawko, Unsettled Blues Band, In The Groove and others) throughout this time and also joined a couple original bands such as Uncle Jack and Smoke n Rhythm. In 2012 he met and started to perform shows with Robin Greenstein (New York). They have performed since then in San Salvador, Bahamas, Cancun Mexico and South Florida with bassist Mike Lindauer (Dallas, Chicago) and guitarist Don Sarlin(New Jersey, New York)
In 2019 he started up the band The Travellers with local Halifax musicians and performed for 2 weeks in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic in December 2019. They were all set to perform in Ixtapa Mexico in April 2020 when Covid hit. Then... In August 2020 he moved with his wife to Shediac, NB after visiting the area for many years. He started a band soon after (within 2 weeks!) called Big City Mojo. They performed in venues in Moncton, Salisbury and Shediac. In August 2021 Dan decided it was "time to move on" and left the band to explore new opportunities. Currently he hopes to find musicians in or around Shediac to perform with or to record original music with. (He has some professional studio experience including original music with Michael Wade in St Johns (1988) and Tracey Lyn (MacKenzie) in Halifax (2019))
