This powerhouse known as The Terry Whalen Band are a 2015 Music NB Award winner for Blues Artist of the Year and a 2012 Music NB Award winner for Blues Recording for their 2011 release of A Work in Progress. This accomplishment is in addition to being a three time ECMA nominee for Blues Recording of ther Year. They deliver a heart thumping blend of blues and rock that has been described by Jeff Liberty of JL Artists as "classic ZZ Top on Steroids!!! Terry Whalen rocks the very foundation of your soul! That is the bottom line". In September 2021 Terry and the boys released their 7th CD titled Terry Whalen and Friends. TWB have called in the best of the best to contribute to an album with all album sales going to the SPCA and Animal protection groups. It's a very meaningful collaboration and a cause very close to the Whalen family. Guests include, Steve Marriner, Matt Andersen, Garrett Mason, Bobby Cameron, Ross Neilsen, Travis Furlong, and Tim Galant. In January of 2018 they released their 6th CD - a stripped down collection of new material, called - Terry Whalen with Jock Downs - Nasty Little Bits. In January, 2012, TWB received a 2012 ECMA nomination for Blues Recording of the Year for A Work in Progress. This is their third such honor in the past four years. They also received a 2010 ECMA nomination for Blues Recording of the Year, for their 2009 release of A Wicked Driving Rain. This came on the heels of their 2009 ECMA Nomination for Blues Recording of the Year for their 2008 release of The Devil's Fireplace. The band were also honored with a Music New Brunswick nomination for Blues recording of the Year for A Wicked Driving Rain in 2010. TWB were a 2010 a finalist for the CBC Galaxie Rising Stars Showcase at the Harvest Jazz and Blues Festival in Fredericton, NB.
To date the band have had the pleasure of sharing the stage with blues legends, Delbert McClinton, Jonny Lang, Robert Cray, The John Oates Band, MonkeyJunk, Matt Andersen and the amazing James Cotton along with Jimmy D Lane, the son of the great Jimmy Rogers and Shirley King the daughter of BB King. The Terry Whalen Band has been compared to early ZZ Top, but what you will hear is one-of-a-king sound from frontman Terry Whalen and a band that delivers an original blend of blues and rock that will leave you wanting more.
With a dedication to music that spans over 25 years Terry decided it was time to set about releasing a catalogue of material that in some cases goes back as many years. Over the past seven years this material jumpstarted a collection of material that appeared on the debut release of Sleepwalker’s Blues in 2007. This was quickly followed by the release of The Devil’s Fireplace in 2008 and the 2009 release of A Wicked Driving Rain. April 12, 2011 marked the release of their fourth CD, A Work in Progress, an 11 track project. February, 2014 saw the release of their 5th disc, Two Steps Forward, which many declare is their best yet.
To date the boys have had the honor of also sharing the stage with many regional heavy weights including Garrett Mason, Thom Swift, Charlie A'Court, Ben Caplan and the Casual Smokers, The Tom Fun Orchestra, Morgan Davis, Dan Doiron, The Hupman Brothers, Sam Moon, Pretty Archie, The Twon Heroes, Minglewood, Comedian Gerry Dee, Dave Gunning, Christina Martin, David Myles, and Ron Hynes.
