Abby McCartney (she/her) is an indie folk-pop singer-songwriter based in Fredericton, New Brunswick.

Beginning to teach herself guitar in early 2021, McCartney published her first demo “Pretty When I Cry” in 2022, winning the Jane Leblanc Music Award in August of that year. In 2023, she released her first self-produced single “Tired” in collaboration with the Jane Leblanc Legacy Fund, showcased at the 2023 ECMAs, filmed an artist spotlight with Nancy Regan for Roger’s TV, and released her debut EP “Everything At Once.” Her music has been featured on local and national radio.

In 2025, she showcased at Music New Brunswick Week, performed at festivals including Paddlefest and the Harvest Music Festival, and made her debut on The Fredericton Playhouse stage with United By Song -- a fundraising event for United Way. McCartney is currently working on a new project to be released in 2026

Drawing inspiration from experiences and relationships in her life, her acoustic melodies, smooth vocals, and introspective lyrics focus heavily on themes of family, nostalgia, loss, growth, and storytelling. Her main influences are artists such as Leith Ross and Lizzy McAlpine, and listeners have compared her songs to those of Dodie, Billie Eilish, and Gracie Abrams.

"Tired" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2023 Prix Music New Brunswick Awards, and "Everything At Once" was nominated for Song of the Year and Record of the Year at the 2024 Prix Music New Brunswick Awards.
