Shane Douthwright is a New Brunswick country singer-songwriter whose music is rooted in the people, places, and stories of Atlantic Canada. Raised in a musical family and steeped in bluegrass traditions, Shane spent decades touring with his family band before carving out his own path in country music. Today, he combines the storytelling spirit of traditional country with a modern perspective, creating songs that are honest, relatable, and deeply connected to real life.
Before pursuing music full-time, Shane spent more than two decades as a high school teacher, inspiring hundreds of students through music education. The same ability to connect, encourage, and tell a compelling story now defines both his songwriting and live performances.
Shane’s music is often inspired by true events and personal history. His song Hills of Albert Mines tells the remarkable story of a 1970 police chase through rural New Brunswick—a story made even more compelling by the fact that the man at the centre of it was Shane’s father. Through songs like these, he captures the character, history, and spirit of the region he calls home.
A two-time Male Vocalist of the Year winner at the Eastern Canadian Bluegrass Music Awards and an ECMA nominee for Bluegrass Album of the Year, Shane has built a reputation as a strong vocalist, engaging performer, and authentic storyteller. His career has taken him to some of the top stages in Eastern Canada and beyond, including the Cavendish Beach Music Festival Main Stage, where he opened for Zac Brown Band in 2024. He has also shared stages with artists including Tim Hicks, Ricky Skaggs, Doc Walker, Sammy Kershaw, and Lorrie Morgan.
Recent performance highlights include Cavendish Beach Music Festival, Stan Rogers Folk Festival, Nashwaak Music Fest, Levee on the Lake, Fox Mountain Country Festival and featured entertainer shows with Royal Caribbean Cruises, performing for audiences throughout North America and the Caribbean.
Whether performing in an intimate listening room, a festival crowd, or aboard a cruise ship, Shane Douthwright brings the same qualities to every stage: strong vocals, genuine storytelling, and a deep appreciation for the music and communities that have shaped him.
