Born into a large musical family, Shawn Richard was raised in a home where music wasn’t just background noise — it was a way of life. From an early age, he was surrounded by harmonies and instruments.  That foundation shaped not only his sound, but his deep connection to live performance.

Shawn spent his early years performing at church concerts and local benefit shows, quickly developing a reputation for his heartfelt delivery and natural stage presence. His talent gained wider recognition when he won Downeast Idol in 2009, followed by a career milestone in 2017 when he was crowned Saint John Idol — solidifying his place as one of New Brunswick’s standout vocalists.

While Shawn has written and recorded in Nashville, drawing inspiration from the heart of country music, he has remained deeply rooted in Atlantic Canada. He primarily records his singles in Memramcook, collaborating with the Bourgeois Brothers and a talented circle of local session musicians who help bring his vision to life, including his most recent single, “Take Me Away From Here.” 

With authentic roots, a powerful voice, and a passion for connecting through song, Shawn Richard continues to carve out his place in the country music landscape — both at home in the Maritimes and beyond.
