Teku Syndrom: Purebred Rock from the Heart of Atlantic Canada
Emerging from Edmundston, New Brunswick, Teku Syndrom delivers straightforward, homegrown rock inspired by the grit and soul of Atlantic Canada. The band’s moniker reflects the creative state of mind lead guitarist Eric "Raz" Toussaint enters when songwriting—trusty Teku glass in hand. With Teresa’s angelic vocals soaring over Dan Arsenault's no-holds-barred guitar-driven sound, supported by Tony Toussaint' intense bass foundation and Garry Larocque's thunderous drums, Teku Syndrom explores the hard rock and alternative universes. They deliver thought-provoking lyrics while rocking, grooving, and appealing to audiences of all ages.
The Journey
Teku Syndrom made their global debut with the single "Help Me Grow" in May 2022. Telling the true story of band member transgender child, the track resonated worldwide, reaching #3 on FM 89.5 in Canberra, Australia. Alan Cross (Corus Radio/A Journal of Musical Things) praised the track, noting: "What an interesting (and uplifting) topic for a song! Good job." Building on this momentum, the band released their debut EP, "The Path", in May 2023 to a sold-out crowd at the Edmundston Art Center. The EP was hailed by critics as a "remarkable musical journey" (BrokenColor.co) with "hooks beyond hooks" (The Buzz Slayers).
A two-time recipient of the NB Music Artist Development (DIM) grant in 2022 and 2025, Teku Syndrom followed up with the release of their second EP, "Rise", in May 2026, at the Edmundston Arts Centre. Recorded at Aurum Waves Studio in Moncton, NB, in January 2026, "Rise" showcases a slightly more aggressive and modern sound that reflects the band's evolution. As per Stephane Paquette (Acadie Nouvelle) said, Teku Syndrom offers "...good old uncompromising hard rock".
On Stage & In the Community
Teku Syndrom is as committed to their community as they are to their craft. They have raised over $24,500 for local charities through their self-produced S.H.E. Rocks benefit shows (2024 & 2025). Their resume includes opening for Quebec rock legends Vilain Pingouin, up-and-coming rock band Sandveiss, country-rock star Justin Legacy, the Mexican/Quebec metal/funk band DéKorà on their "Ahuevo Tabarnak 2026" tour, and fellow New Brunswickers La Grosse Équipe.
Their energetic performances have earned them recognition from the Acadian hard rock scene, winning the People Choice Award (2024) and the Altruism Award (2025) at the Savèches Wing Awards. The future looks bright for the band, with a performance at the Mercredi Musical concert series on August 5, 2026, in Edmundston, NB. Building on the success of their first performance, the band was offered a second opportunity to open for Sandveiss in Edmundston at their show on October 17, 2026, at the Ateepic Microbrewery in Edmundston. Furthermore, the band will have the honor of opening the Metal Canadien Français show presented by Mononc Serge and Anonymus at the Grey Rock Casino on Saturday, March 13, 2027.
