Michael J Foxx is a Moncton, New Brunswick–based recording artist, producer, songwriter, audio engineer and entrepreneur whose career is built on independence, versatility and an uncompromising commitment to the craft of music. With a foundation in hip-hop and a production style that moves through rap, R&B, trap, punk, pop and emotionally driven music, Foxx has developed a distinctive sonic identity built around hard-hitting drums, melodic textures, cinematic production and authentic storytelling.
With more than 15 years of experience in music and formal education in Music Theory and Audio Engineering, Foxx has built his career from both sides of the recording process—performing as an artist while writing, producing, engineering, mixing and developing records for other artists. His catalogue includes hundreds of registered compositions and millions of cumulative streams, while his music has earned multiple iTunes Top 200 chart appearances. MusicNB has recognized Foxx with multiple MusicNB nominations and documented his 2026 ECMA nominations for African Canadian Artist of the Year and Rap Album of the Year for Off The Stoop Vol. 1. His music has also reached film and television audiences through placements associated with productions including Paramount+'s Lawmen: Bass Reeves, American Horror Stories and a Hallmark Christmas film.
Foxx's commercial milestones include the international success of “Better Half” featuring Sydney Sexton, which reached #3 on the iTunes chart in South Africa, along with multiple appearances on iTunes Top 200 charts through records including “Cross Canada Jax,” “Ambition,” “Go Hard,” “Messiah Mode” and “5AM In Moncton.”
His 2026 catalogue expanded his profile through a series of ambitious independent releases, including FLOWERS, Permanent Rapper Card, Highways & Heartbeats, 5 Nights In Freddy, The People's Choice with MAK11 and additional collaborative projects. The People's Choice was produced entirely by Foxx across all 14 tracks, with Foxx and MAK11 also sharing engineering duties.
A significant highlight of Foxx's evolving catalogue is “On Point,” featuring New York rap veteran Uncle Murda, bringing Foxx together with an established hip-hop artist for one of the standout collaborations on Permanent Rapper Card. The track is officially credited as “On Point (feat. Uncle Murda)” on the 2026 release.
As a producer, Foxx continues to expand his reach through an extensive roster of artists and collaborators. His production and creative partnerships include Sydney Sexton, MAK11, KEINON, Q-States, Quoia States, One8tea, Proud Father Jeff, TACHICHI, HINCH, Ms. Thomas, Still MAD, Ben Fresh, Mxchael Shabazz, Dee Hernandez, Jack Mills, FK Fre$h and many other artists across Canada.
His most recent producer credits include new work with KEINON and Q-States, continuing Foxx's role as a behind-the-scenes creative force while he simultaneously develops his own artist catalogue. His work with KEINON includes the collaborative record “Ghost,” featuring Quoia States, produced by Michael J Foxx at Just One Mic Recordings, demonstrating his continued involvement in songwriting, production, recording and engineering.
Foxx's long-running creative relationship with Sydney Sexton has produced numerous collaborations, including Duality, “Better Half,” “Fill The Void,” “Blade,” “Alone” and additional records that showcase their chemistry across pop, R&B and hip-hop. His partnership with MAK11 has similarly developed into a substantial collaborative catalogue, culminating in The People's Choice, a full-length project built entirely around Foxx's production.
Beyond his own releases, Foxx is the founder and driving force behind Just One Mic Recordings, an independent Canadian recording and music company established to create opportunities for artists while developing production, recording, publishing and sync opportunities. The label represents the next stage of Foxx's career: moving from independent recording artist into a multi-disciplinary music entrepreneur and creative director.
Foxx's work increasingly extends into sync and film placement, where his goal is to create songs specifically for future film and television productions while helping artists he has produced gain access to licensing opportunities.
