Flo Durelle

Acadian, Country
Role:

I am a solo country artist.

Originally from Baie Ste Anne, New Brunswick. The youngest of 5 children born to Raymond and Marguerite Durelle and the only girl.

By the age of 5 was singing at local venues and talent shows. My major influence was traditional country music with my favorite female country artists being Dolly Parton, Emmylou Harris and Lorreta Lynn.

In the 80’s, toured extensively with such country groups as Morning Sun, with whom I recorded at Music Mills Studios in Nashville, and Calico as well as other bands on the circuit.

In 1984, represented New Brunswick in the Great Atlantic Canada Talent Contest.

In the 90’s performed locally in a popular duo with my brother Buff.

Now residing in Dieppe, New Brunswick I have decided to come back to my roots and love of country music. Over the last few years I have performed and recorded with local bands with some of the songs making it to #1 on the local radio countdowns.

In 2016 recorded a solo CD entitled To Daddy. A song written by my uncle Marc Durelle called Haunting Memories, my first single release, made it to #1 on the countdown as did a song co-written with my good friend Linda Arsenault, entitled Ma Chère Maman.

The CD also has a duet with Johnny Burke. Having been a fan of his for many years, it was a thrill having him on the recording as he is a distinguished well respected gentleman in the music industry. We decided to have a Double CD release party to a sold out crowd in Shediac, New Brunswick on June 12, 2016.

Known for her strong vocal style, bubbly personality and her love of traditional country music, it is no surprise that her CD is a mix of traditional country music including songs by Dolly Parton, some original songs including one she co-wrote in French for her mother, as well as a duet.

Inducted into the New Brunswick Country Music Hall of Fame in October 2020.

A lifelong dream of recording a solo CD has finally come true for a country girl from Northumberland County with big dreams and a vow of always keeping it country.

And now a follow up CD entitled Listen to Your Heart in 2019. A 12 song album of some original songs as well as some covers that all held a special place in her heart during my career.
