Arabika is a Moncton-based ensemble devoted to exploring the depth, diversity, and evolving spirit of the Arabic musical tradition within a global context. Drawing from the classical sounds of Andalusia, the Mashriq, the Levant, and the Maghreb, the group approaches tradition as a living language; one that continues to grow through dialogue with other cultures.

Their music weaves together influences from Turkey, Persia, India, China, West Africa, and Latin America, creating a rich and fluid soundscape that reflects centuries of cultural exchange along historic trade routes and migrations. Through this lens, Arabika does not treat musical styles as separate worlds, but as interconnected expressions of a shared human story.

At the heart of Arabika’s work is original composition. Their pieces blend modal systems, rhythmic traditions, and instrumentation from across continents, balancing authenticity with innovation. Whether performing intimate acoustic passages or expansive ensemble arrangements, the group emphasizes emotional storytelling and collective experience.

Arabika’s performances are immersive and dynamic, inviting audiences into a space where ancient melodies resonate with contemporary meaning. Their debut album presents a body of original work that reflects this vision; a musical journey through longing, resilience, and connection.
