Edmundston to Host Festival (506) in 2020

Posted Bydawn

After a 14-year journey around the province, Music·Musique NB (MNB) is proud to return to Edmundston to celebrate the 2020 edition of its migrating event, Festival (506). The event, which made stops in Moncton, Caraquet, Miramichi, Fredericton, Saint John and Saint Andrews, last took place in Edmundston in 2006 and was then known as Semaine MNB Week.

"Creative expression in both official languages is crucial to the continued vitality of the province's cultural industries," says Penelope Stevens, president of the MNB Board of directors. "For that reason, we're eager to get back to Northern New Brunswick, working with partners in the Edmundston's music scene to present Festival (506)." Mrs Stevens continues: "Edmundston is a dynamic musical hub and is an important tour stop for regional artists, and we're excited to capitalize on this growth to showcase our province's brightest musical talents!"

Edmundston Mayor Cyrille Simard is delighted with the announcement. "We are proud to welcome this great festival, here in Edmundston. Music runs deep in our city, and such an event is sure to attract the community's interest. With our top-notch facilities and people ready to roll up their sleeves, I have no doubt that Festival (506) will be a great success in Edmundston. We are looking forward to October!"

Festival (506) is three days of public concerts, conferences geared to musicians and music industry professionals, and an Awards Show celebrating New Brunswick’s musical talents. Festival (506) is taking place October 22 to 24, 2020.
