Emerging from the rich cultural landscape of their Wabanaki homeland, New Brunswick, The Hello Crows are a powerful Indigenous roots group, whose songs and stories are woven with the threads of personal experiences, resilience, and a deep connection to their communities and culture. Their journey began in 2022, when its members (Judie Acquin, Quinn Bonnell, Mattie Comeau and Dylan Ward), each an individual artist in their own right, performed together for the first time at a Wabanaki Songwriter Circle. This chance gathering, highlighting their poignant storytelling, while combining traditional and contemporary influences, is considered the catalyst for their creative union.
In 2024, they released their debut single, Come Back To Me, an anthem for language reclamation on July 1st (Canada Day) and it quickly resonated with listeners for its authenticity and powerful message. After a steady climb, Come Back To Me eventually landed in the top 10 on the National Indigenous Chart and won the 2025 Song of the Year at Music/Musique New Brunswick Awards.
Their self-titled, debut album was released on September 30th, 2025. It was the first release from Castle Records, the Maritime’s first Indigenous record label, which is run by Tristan Grant, known to many as hip-hop artist Wolf Castle. The Hello Crows have also been awarded the distinction of being chosen to serve as Artist Ambassadors for the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund, where they proudly stand in support of truth, healing and the ongoing journey towards reconciliation
The Hello Crows have continued to build strong momentum with an impressive run of high-profile performances and opportunities, including Stanfest, Area 506, The Lunenburg Folk Harbour Festival, along with break-out showcasing opportunities at Contact East, Folk Ontario and MusicNB Week. In 2026, The Hello Crows also embarked on a 12 school tour throughout the province of New Brunswick, gaining the group valuable community engagement, in particular with younger listeners.
With every note, lyric, and chant, The Hello Crows remind us of the strength of Indigenous identity, the importance of collective storytelling, and the unbreakable bond between music and culture. Combine their powerful individual voices and their own unique perspectives, and The Hello Crows are poised to become a very important voice on the Canadian musical landscape, and beyond.
