@canada.gov.ca to host the 2026 Prix MNB Awards

(October 1, 2026 – Moncton / Sikniktuk) Music·Musique NB is happy to announce John Batt, the creator behind the viral Instagram account @canada.gov.ca, as host of the 2026 PRIX MNB AWARDS. The event is taking place at the Aberdeen Cultural Centre (Moncton), on October 22 at 8 pm. Originally from Fredericton, Batt has built a dedicated community of over 115K followers by exploring overlooked regional histories, Maritime nostalgia, and bizarre local culture.

The evening celebrates a year in the New Brunswick music scene and will showcase performances by M3D14, Penny & the Pits, Sylvie Boulianne, The Hello Crows, Umläb, and Valérie Bouchard. Mi’kmaq Elder Donna Augustine (Thunderbird Turtle Woman) will open the ceremony with an Opening Prayer in Mi’kmaq and a Welcoming.

Eleven awards will be presented to artists and industry professionals who have made their mark on the music industry in the past year. The event kicks off Semaine MNB Week, taking place in Moncton until October 24, 2026.

This year's event also marks the 20th anniversary of Semaine MNB Week, celebrating two decades of the collaboration and resilience of the New Brunswick's music industry. Each year, artists, industry professionals, and music fans come together to celebrate the province's thriving music community while creating new opportunities for growth and professional development.
