FAQ - Award and Showcase Applications

Posted Bydawn

I want to apply for a Prix MNB Award. What do I do??

Go to (link removed. Closed for new entries)

1. Create an account

User name | Login name, just for you!
Email address | Where we can reach you if we’re missing info.
Password | FYI, the geeks at MNB will mock you behind your back if this is 'password123'.
Full name | What your mom calls you.
Organization | Artist Name, Band name, business name, festival name, you get the gist…

2. Accept the Eligibility

The MNB team is not only geeky, we are also very sneaky! We hid a discount code in our Eligibility Guide… Read it, find it, and get $5 off your entry fee. Excuse us while we go practice our evil laugh!

3. You may now begin your application.

Ignore the SCARY ZEROES!!!
Click on the friendly blue box that says CREATE AN ENTRY

ENTRY NAME = Award Nominee (artist, band, festival, business, etc.)
CATEGORY = Pretty self explanatory
THUMBNAIL = Not mandatory. It’s a preview for your entry. It’s not included in the judging, but the jury will see it, so no bad selfie!

Each award you apply for is a separate entry.
You can fill out the mandatory info, save and come back later to edit the entry or add more files.
The text boxes on the right contains what attachments are required. Please read carefully. Don’t make us send our goons after you!
Create a separate entry just for the $20 award entry fee. With that fee, you can apply to as many awards as you want. Just don’t forget to add it! See above note RE: our goons!

Case Study

The country rock band Rue Blodeo wants to apply for Country Artist of the Year, Rock Artist of the Year, Group Recording of the Year and Video of the Year.

  1. They can’t apply to both Country AND Rock. They have to pick only one. Because, they’re a bit more country than rock, and they think they have a better chance of winning in that category, they pick Country. = 1 ENTRY
  2. 1 ENTRY for Group Recording
  3. 1 ENTRY for Video
  4. Are they done? No!! 1 ENTRY for the ENTRY FEE.
  5. Good luck to Rue Blodeo!

I want to apply for a showcase. What do I do??

Create your account (See steps 1-2-3 above).

Choose "Showcase Application", enter the info we’re asking for, and you’re rolling. Showcase applications are $20. Selected showcase artists will be contacted in June.

If you already created an account to apply for the awards, no need to create a new one!

Wait! I have more questions!

I created all my entries and I’m ready to send it. What do I do??

Are you sure you attached all the required documents and music?? Really, really sure?

Yes, I’m sure! Stop nagging!

At the bottom of the dashboard page, all your entries are listed. Click on the little shopping cart for all the entries you want to submit. Click the Checkout Button (next to the friendly blue box that says Create New Entry). You’ll have a chance to review before proceeding. This is also where you enter the promo code, which you found by diligently reading the Eligibility Guide…

Oh $?#@! I forgot I wanted to also apply to another category!

You’re in luck. You can go back to your account, create a new entry, and submit. You don’t need to pay the entry fee again if you paid it already.

I don’t understand XYZ. What do I do??

Step 1: Next to most text boxes, you’ll see a little "i" in a gray box. Start by reading that explanation.

Step 2: If you have a technical question (your file isn’t uploading, the save button isn’t working, your screen has fallen and it can’t get up), contact the Iceberg Team (support@icebergapp.com). They are a super friendly, New Brunswick-based company.

Step 3: If you have an Award Eligibility question (your recording was only released on 8-track, your dog ate your original album cover art), contact the MNB Team (contact@musicnb.org). They also are super friendly and New Brunswick-based!
