Join MNB on Zoom on April 6th @ 6pm for a Studio Talk, a panel discussion led by self managed artist and singer-songwriter Christine Melanson. Dylan Ward from Shiftwork Recording (Fredericton), Mike Trask from MCR (Memramcook) and Jason Barry from Barrytone Studios will discuss topics from setting up techniques, to favourite gear and more!

Moderator:
Christine Melanson is a multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and host from Moncton. Her most recent album, Cent millions d'années, garnered two nominations at the Musique NB Awards in 2020. She is currently working on a third solo album and is a member of the bands Les Fireflies and La Virée.

Panelists:
Dylan Ward is a Mi’kmaq musician, recording engineer and producer based out of Fredericton, New Brunswick. Ward fronts rock icons-in-the-making, Marian (recipient of Indigenous Artist of the Year from Music New Brunswick  2020), and operates his recording studio, Shiftwork Recording. At his studio, Ward works alongside artists to help realise their music vision, and to create a recording that represents the uniqueness of who they are, with a focus on helping build up New Brunswick and Indigenous artists.

With his inimitable vocal style and raucous live shows, Mike Trask has become a staple of the East coast music community. Raised on a healthy dose of country, blues and folk music, Trask’s songwriting deconstructs traditional genre conventions to reshape the familiar into something extraordinary. On his latest album TV Dinner, Trask records and performs nearly every instrument himself. As a result, the tracks take on a newfound immediacy. Trask leans into his melodic instincts and the result is a sonic burst of creative freedom. Or, as Trask likes to say, “Sometimes it helps if you don’t think at all.”

Originally from Miramichi NB, Jason Barry is an award winning producer, writer, post audio engineer and musician collecting dozens of Canada's largest music accolades including Junos, Canadian Country Music Awards, Canadian Music Awards and Socan awards. He has produced and recorded an impressive collection of Canada's largest acts: Dean Brody, Charlie Major, Michelle Wright, Terri Clark, Tenille Arts, Jason Blaine and Aaron Lines. All of these artists have recorded at his multi award winning recording studio 'Barrytone Studios'. Jason has also recorded many of the world's most celebrated artists ranging from Taylor Swift and Keith Urban to Lyle Lovett and Steve Earle.
